It's Showtime at Your Library:

The Artist

The Artist

Join us on Wednesday, July 10 for a film screening of The Artist (PG-13). The film won five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. This film tells the story of Hollywood’s transition from silent films to talkies and the impact to the stars of that era. The program will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in The Learning Center (TLC).

In late 1920s Hollywood, George Valentin (Academy Award Winner Jean Dujardin) is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies may sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo), it seems the sky's the limit and perhaps major movie stardom awaits. The Artist tells the story of their interlinked destinies.

Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) are instruments designed to amplify sounds to make it easier for persons who are hearing‑impaired to enjoy a library program.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of the City of Palm Springs, should contact Marcus Fuller, ADA Coordinator, as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
