TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening initiative available at 133 airports in the United States, including Palm Springs International Airport.
As part of this Transportation Security Administration program you may receive the benefit of no longer removing the following items at the airport security checkpoint:
- 3-1-1 compliant bag from carry-on
- Laptop from bag
- Light outerwear or jacket
This is how to enroll: Go online and download the PreCheck application. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have a valid ID, and pay an $85.00 nonrefundable fee which grants you PreCheck privileges for five years once you are accepted into the program.
After you have applied online, you will receive an email notification to make an appointment at an enrollment center to be fingerprinted. Click here to find the TSA enrollment center nearest you.
After the in-person enrollment is complete, applicants should expect to receive written notification from the TSA within 30 days. Exceptional situations may require additional processing time. Applicants may check their status online via the TSA enrollment portal.
Once you are accepted into the PreCheck program, you will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that you will use when making reservations with participating airlines.
Participants to the Global Entry program are automatically eligible for the TSA PreCheck program. Global Entry expedites the Customs process on your way back to the United States when flying internationally. The Global Entry fee is $100.00 and is also valid for five years.
