The City's healthcare advocates, CareCounsel,  offer services to help navigate the healthcare environment by having access to expert healthcare professionals.  A range of services are available including: orient to wellness, disease management, healthy living assistance, as well as coordinating between physicians and understanding prescription drug options.

CareCounselors routinely:

  • Advocate on behalf of the employee
  • Disease and wellness support
  • Troubleshoot claims
  • Coordinate multiple parties; health plans, hospitals, etc.
  • Help employees understand and choose a health plan

Condition Management

Personalized support is available for coping with and managing complex health issues.  A variety of disease management options are on hand including the assistance of nurse coaches for support with managing chronic conditions such as: Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Failure, and Asthma.
