The first Palm Springs Community Police Academy met in 1993 and has been running continuously since then. Sessions meet once per week on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 9pm for 13 consecutive weeks.
The Community Police Academy is a Community Policing project that has graduated hundreds of students from all sectors of the community - doctors, lawyers, retirees, students, homemakers, journalists, pilots, teachers, and many others. Attendees participate in discussions about Patrol Procedures, Traffic Investigation, K-9, SWAT, Community Policing, Narcotics, Crime Scene Investigation, and many other interesting topics. Academy class attendees may have the opportunity to participate in a Patrol Ride-Along, Communications Center Familiarization, and/or Firearms Simulator Training/Scenarios.
To qualify for the Academy, you must be at least 18 years old and have no felony convictions. There is no cost for this exciting and valuable learning experience.
