If the constant barking of your neighbor's dog was drowned out by their all-night party, you need to know who to call.
The City of Palm Springs has a noise complaint hotline -- 760-327-1445. This is our non-emergency Police Department dispatch phone number.
We realize that peace and quite is a quality of life issue. We're not trying to stop people from having a good time, we simply want them to be respectful of their neighbors -- and if they won't be, people need a recourse.
It's not always loud music that's the problem Over-anxious construction workers or landscapers can disturb someone's peace and quiet.
Palm Springs has an ordinance governing when such work can be done. Construction is limited to between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and it is not allowed on Sundays or on certain holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Memorial Day.)
Leaf blowers may only be operated between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in residential areas.
The California Vehicle Code also has sections addressing noise.
Aircraft Operations and Noise Complaints
The Palm Springs International Airport has established a noise complaint hotline in order to maintain a database of information tracking noise concerns. The telephone number for the Airport noise complaint line is 760-318-3800 ext. 5276. When calling this number please be sure to include your name, address, phone number and the date and time of the event. Also, please include the type of aircraft, color of aircraft, the number of engines and tail number of the aircraft, if possible.
Several calls to the Palm Springs International Airport regarding noise issues have been generated by aircraft not utilizing our facility. A number of these events are produced by medical evacuation flights traversing to and from the Desert Regional Medical Center. Please call the hospital at 760-323-6524 when there appears to be helicopter traffic producing excessive noise in the area of Indian Canyon Drive and Tachevah Drive.
