Jump Start Your Novel - Fiction Writing Workshop

inlandia institute

Facilitated by author, publisher Marj Charlier this FREE four-week series will help you get started on that novel you’ve always wanted to write! Advanced Registration is requested as seating is limited. Please email inlandiafiction@gmail.com to register and for more information.  We’ll focus on theme, characterization, transformation, plot, narrative, character arc, tension, conflict, and structure — all the things you will want to think about before you start writing.  The sessions will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. each week in The Learning Center. This program is presented in partnership with the Inlandia Institute.

Marj Charlier has been teaching workshops on fiction and memoir writing for Inlandia in Southern California for five years. She owns Sunacumen Press, and is the author of 11 novels; her latest, The Rebel Nun, will be released by Blackstone Publishing in 2020. She has a BA and an MA in journalism and an MBA, and spent 12 years as a staff reporter at the Wall Street Journal.

The Inlandia Institute’s mission is to recognize, support, and expand literary activity in all of its forms in the Inland Empire by publishing books and sponsoring programs that deepen people’s awareness, understanding, and appreciation of this unique, complex and creatively vibrant region. The Inlandia Institute is a lively center of literary activity serving the 29,000 sq. mile inland Southern California Region. It grew out of the highly acclaimed anthology Inlandia: A Literary Journey through California’s Inland Empire, published by Heyday Books in 2006 with the active participation of the Riverside Public Library. The cultural programming that supported the anthology led to the development of the Inlandia Institute in 2007. Inlandia incorporated in 2009 and was granted non-profit status in 2012.
