Author Lecture @ the WMML: “Marie Antoinette: Cursed From Birth”

vinny stoppiaAuthor Vincent Stoppia of the book The Austrian Woman will discuss the riveting story of the French Queen Marie Antoinette on the eve of the 226th anniversary of her execution on October 16, 1793. The program will be from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Cornelia White Community Room at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library (WMML) located at 100 S. Palm Canyon Dr., in downtown Palm Springs. 760-323-8296,

Vinny Stoppia, a native from the Big Apple, thrived and survived through sixteen years of parochial education. He worked for twenty-three years at United Nations Headquarters observing the political luminaries of the Cold War Era. Vinny moved to Palm Springs in 1993 recognizing a slice of heaven when he saw it.  For more than fifty years, Vinny gobbled up anything about eighteenth century France, in particular, the singular Queen of France, Marie Antoinette. His narrative about the life of this lighting rod monarch, “The Austrian Woman,” is the culmination of a lifelong passion to retell her story.
