Psychology of Food Choice & the Science of Food Addiction + Hormones and Hunger
Presented by Jason Tate, Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, this lecture can help you better understand our food choices and how our biochemistry and hormones play a role. The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m. in The Learning Center. This program is presented in partnership with the Certified Farmers’ Market, a Palm Springs Cultural Center event.
There are more than a dozen factors that affect our food choices every day from culture, habit, personal preference and more. Engage in an interactive discussion illuminating the multiple reasons behind deciding what ends up on our forks and how our biochemistry and hormones play a role. Participants dive deep into the reasons why we choose to eat what we eat and learn the necessary tools to change what we eat. This workshop will give the participants a much deeper understanding underlying our food choices so we can lay down paths for new, healthier ones. Willpower doesn’t last and the true power driving our hunger, satiety, and addiction lies in the biochemistry of a few glands and structures within our body. Learn about the complex web of hormonally driven eating behaviors so you can understand what’s going on with your body and overcome these urges to break the addictive behaviors leading to obesity and many chronic diseases related to hunger and satiety.
