Modernism Week – October Offers Exciting Tours and Events

Modernism Week – October returns October 16–19, 2025, offering nearly 50 activities, including many free and affordable events. This four-day festival in Palm Springs highlights the best of midcentury and modern design, with a dynamic mix of architecture tours, exhibitions, interior design showcases, and celebrations of vintage culture. The full schedule of activities may be viewed online at modernismweek.com. 

Featured events include:

• Modernism Week Featured Home Tour: Sackley Chase Sensation (10/16 – 10/19, $40) This stunning private residence was designed by the prolific Palm Springs architect Stan Sackley in 1976 and beautifully decorated by the iconic interior designer Steve Chase. This remarkable home, recently updated by Grace Home Furnishings, features striking Brutalist features, including pristine Italian natural travertine floors and expansive walls of glass that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the Indian Canyons golf course. This tour was one of the highlights during Modernism Week’s February festival and returns for the October festival due to popular demand. 

• Preview Party for Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show (10/17, $95) Beat the crowds and enjoy a festive wine reception and early buying opportunity at the Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show. Preview party tickets include return entry to the show all weekend. 

• ONE-PS Presents: Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Palm Springs (10/18, $100) Join ONE-PS for this expertly guided walking tour through downtown Palm Springs, where participants will explore iconic sites that shaped the city’s early history, architecture, and culture. Stops include the Plaza Theatre, the O’Donnell Golf Club House, American Legion Post 519 (designed by modernist architects Albert Frey and John Porter Clark), and additional historic sites. 

• Casual Concours, The Desert's Most Fabulous Midcentury Car Show: Coupe du Jour Show (10/18, $25) The Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage will host this popular 37th annual gathering of significant post-war automobiles with more than 170 museumquality cars on display. Called "Coupe du Jour,” the show celebrates fabulous two-door coupes. 

• Curated Vintage Event (10/18, $15 and $25) This fabulous sale highlights exceptional vintage fashion and accessories to dress vintage fashion lovers. Inspirational retailers and private dealers converge at Temple Isaiah to feature their very best clothing, textiles, jewelry, and accessories. 

• Midcentury Sunny Cycle Tour by PS ModCom (10/16 – 10/19, $90) This enjoyable 2hour (cycling optional) tour allows participants to discover the architectural gems nestled within the prestigious neighborhoods of Movie Colony, Old Las Palmas, Vista Las Palmas and Historic Tennis Club with a short break at the trendy Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge.  

• Art District Tour (10/18, FREE) The studios and artists' workspaces of more than 50 artists in five art districts will be open on this self-guided tour. Guests will meet Coachella Valley artists and learn how artists of the midcentury modern era have influenced contemporary work. 

PS UNDERGROUND will offer two amazing shows coupled with multi-course meals.
• NEW: VIVA LAS VEGAS (10/17 and 10/18, $195) is an unforgettable evening of showstopping tunes by the popular Gand Band. The show includes hit songs from iconic artists that have become synonymous with Las Vegas and is coupled with a secret, multi-course menu as lavish and bold as the theme. Themed signature cocktails, beer, and wine are included in the ticket price.

• FOREVER ELVIS (10/19, $130) The talented team at PS UNDERGROUND is offering an unforgettable brunch and celebration of the legendary King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley. A delicious 4-course themed brunch will be presented while honoring the life of this iconic 1950s rock star. 

Once again, the Palm Springs Historical Society will offer unique and compelling walking tours, showcasing the rich architectural and historical nature of the city (all tours run 10/16 - 10/19 and are priced at $55). Offered each day of the festival, highlighted Palm Springs Historical Society tours include:  

• Heart of the City: Pioneers to Playground of the Stars: Explore the dynamic past and vibrant present of this world-famous desert getaway while strolling the Walk of Stars. Learn how Hollywood stars, part of our local scene, made Palm Springs their playground.

• Downtown Palm Springs Village Green Historic Tour: This tour explores the focal point for the origins of Palm Springs. Discover four unique and historic buildings, now museums of the Palm Springs Historical Society.

• Hidden Paradise of Showbiz Legends: The Mesa is a beautiful, secluded neighborhood with a fascinating assortment of eclectic architecture. It boasts one of Palm Springs' most stunning architectural anomalies, the Santorini House.

• Modernist Treasures: Lush living on the Links: On ancestral land of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is an attractive collection of luxurious Modernist residences with impressive landscapes lining the historic Indian Canyons Golf Resort.

• Twin Palms Estates Exteriors Walking Tour: A New Design Era: View stunning Modern architecture with its iconic soaring "butterfly" rooflines in the first Midcentury neighborhood built by the Alexander Construction Co. in Palm Springs.

• Uptown Design District: In the early glory days of our town, Hollywood stars and business magnates alike discovered this neighborhood, which provided them with all they needed to revel in sun-kissed days and star-filled nights.
