The City of Palm Springs is excited to announce that construction on the Demuth Park Development Project will officially begin on Monday, March 2, 2026 with a target completion date of October 2026. This marks a major milestone for one of the community’s most anticipated park improvement initiatives. Led by the Palm Springs Engineering Services Department in coordination with the Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Department, the project represents more than five years of planning, assessments, and development.

The Demuth Park Development Project includes over $7.5 million in community improvements, designed to enhance functionality, accessibility, and overall usability of the park. Funding for the project comes from Land and Water Conservation Fund grant monies, Measure J funds, Capital Improvement funds, and Quimby funds.

Key components include:

  • Construction of a permanent large dog park with ADA parking spaces
  • Development of a small dog park
  • Conversion of an existing 2.2-acre dirt lot into a 165-stall paved parking lot with drainage improvements
  • Paving of the Community Center parking lot
  • Pavement and drainage repairs at the Little League parking lots
  • Installation of ADA-compliant drinking fountains
  • Sidewalk and pathway restoration
  • Construction of a new restroom building

“This project reflects our long-term commitment to improving park access, safety, and amenities for residents and visitors alike,” said Nicholas Gonzalez, Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Director. “Demuth Park is a cornerstone of our community, and these upgrades will ensure it continues to serve families, athletes, and pet owners for decades to come.”

During construction, both dog parks at Demuth Park will be closed. Residents are encouraged to visit the David H. Ready Palm Springs Dog Park, located behind City Hall at 222 N. Civic Dr.
