The City of Palm Springs has appointed Jasmine Fields as its new Director of Sustainability, City Manager Scott C. Stiles announced today. 

Fields most recently served as the Sustainability Program Officer at the Borough of State College in Pennsylvania local government where she led implementation of climate action and sustainability initiatives, including programs focused on environmental conservation, renewable energy, active transportation, waste minimization and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. 

She previously served as an Environmental AmeriCorps member with the Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps, working on community-based conservation and environmental stewardship efforts. 

Fields holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from The Pennsylvania State University and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Global

Stability with a concentration in Water Resource Management from Colorado State University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sustainability Management at the University of Southern California.  

Her work has emphasized collaboration with local governments, community organizations and residents to advance sustainability at the local level. An avid cyclist, Fields is passionate about active transportation and designing communities that make sustainable choices more accessible, practical, and achievable. 

Palm Springs continues to prioritize sustainability as a core component of its long-term planning, particularly as desert communities face increasing challenges related to heat, water supply and resource management. 

“We are pleased to welcome Jasmine Fields to Palm Springs and our executive management team,” Stiles said. “Her experience connecting climate strategy with community-based solutions will help advance the City’s sustainability goals.” 

Fields will begin her new role at City Hall on Monday, April 20. 

“Palm Springs is uniquely positioned to lead on sustainability in a desert environment,” Fields said. “This work is about protecting resources, strengthening resilience and ensuring the City remains vibrant for future generations.”
