Plant A Seed, Read! Summer Reading Returns with Books, Prizes, and Fun for All Ages at the Palm Springs Public Library!

Post Date:06/04/2026 11:56 AM

The Palm Springs Public Library invites readers of all ages to dig into a summer of books, learning, and fun with its annual Summer Reading Program. Registration opens Monday, June 8, through Beanstack by creating your account at palmspringsca.beanstack.com/reader365 and then participation is easy: register, log your reading, listening, or watching, all online, and earn FREE books, prizes, and grand prize entries along the way.

The six-week program runs through July 18 and features weekly events for kids, teens, and adults inspired by this year’s theme, Plant A Seed, Read! Kids can enjoy Wednesday morning programs at 10:30 a.m. featuring puppets, live animals, a magician, dance performances, and more. Teen programs take place Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. with a different hands-on craft each week. Both Kids and Teen programs will be at the Library at Rimrock Plaza unless otherwise noted. Adult programs will be held at either Mizell Center or Welwood Murray Memorial Library, with select events requiring advance registration. Weekly door prizes will be awarded at each event, thanks to generous support from local businesses and organizations. These summer reading programs are offered in addition to the Library’s regular Preschool Story Time and Youth DIY Craft activities. A complete schedule with all the details is available at www.palmspringslibrary.org.

Participants who reach reading milestones will earn entries into the Grand Prize drawings, sponsored by the Friends of the Palm Springs Library. This year’s prizes include a Nintendo Switch 2 and game, a $100 Amazon gift card, a Family Fun Pack of local experience gift cards, a raised self-watering garden bed, an electric bike, and a Garden-to-Market Playset. Prizes will be awarded at a finale celebration on Wednesday, July 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Library at Rimrock Plaza. “Research shows that reading over the summer helps prevent learning loss,” said Jeannie Kays, Director of Library Services. “Our library is committed to supporting lifelong learning and educational enrichment for all ages, and Summer Reading is one of our favorite ways to encourage our community to keep reading, exploring, and growing.”

During the renovation the Palm Springs Public Library is located in Rimrock Plaza Shopping Center, 4721 E. Palm Canyon Dr., on the corner of Gene Autry Trail and E. Palm Canyon Drive.
