The Human Rights Commission (HRC) is now accepting nominations for its annual Community Service Awards for people and organizations that are “Promoting Universal Human Rights Closer to Home”. The Community Service Awards honor those whose work has made a meaningful impact on the residents of Palm Springs and or the greater Coachella Valley through volunteerism, advocacy, leadership, and community service.
The HRC’s mission is to “promote and protect the diversity of our community and improve human relations through education and community awareness.”
- Individuals nominated for the award do not need to reside within the City of Palm Springs; however, the work for which they are recognized should benefit residents of Palm Springs and/or the entire Coachella Valley.
- The awards are intended to recognize individuals who volunteer their time to activities that promote universal human rights, or those who go above and beyond their professional responsibilities in support of those values.
- Organizations eligible for recognition may include both nonprofit and for-profit entities. While organizations do not need to be based in the Coachella Valley, the work for which they are honored should positively affect local residents.
- Current HRC Commissioners are not eligible to receive an award. In addition, individuals generally may only receive the award once, even if their contributions continue over time.
“Palm Springs is strengthened by the compassion, service, and leadership of people who work every day to uplift others and build a more inclusive community,” said Naomi Soto, Palm Springs Mayor. “These awards are an opportunity to recognize the individuals and organizations whose dedication to human rights and community service makes a lasting difference throughout Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.”
This is your opportunity to nominate someone who has made an impact in our community!
