CALTRANS PRESS RELEASE:
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) begins work on a $3.2 million pavement preservation project on State Route 111 (SR-111) in and near Palm Springs. The project spans SR-111 from Interstate 10 (I-10) to .4 miles west of Tramway Road. The project will conduct pavement resurfacing with precoated aggregate, asphalt rubber binder, and traffic stripe tape. This work is funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.

Construction is set to begin in September 2026. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Expect single lane closuresduring operations. One lane will remain open, in each direction, at all times. 
Signage will be in place on the I-10 and SR-111 alerting motorists of the upcoming lane closures and speed reductions.

Proceed with caution as work vehicles and crews may move in and out of shoulder areas. Project work is expected to be completed by end of 2026. All work is weather and material dependent.
