PUBLIC NOTICE

Effective April 7, 2020 all “non-essential” construction activity is suspended until further notice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Shelter in Place order. Jobsites performing “essential” construction activities must prepare and post Social Distancing Protocols at jobsites by 11:59 p.m. on April 8, 2020. PUBLIC NOTICE:

In the interest of public health and safety,

the Development Services Center at City Hall is CLOSED

to the public until further notice. 

However, we are still open for business.

City operations will continue during this time via email and telephone. Please contact us at 760‑323‑8242 or email building@palmspringsca.gov

 Due to the temporary closure of the Building and Safety public counter, permit applications will be accepted electronically via email at: 

building@palmspringsca.gov for file sizes under 25MB

and 

https://spaces.hightail.com/uplink/PSBuilding for file sizes 25MB or larger

Email subject line should read: PERMIT TYPE & ADDRESS

Plans should be a minimum of 8 ½” X 11” and in PDF format.

Plans will be reviewed, and corrections or approved plans will be emailed back to the applicant.  Applicants will not receive a paper copy of their approved plans and will be required to have a copy of the approved plans at the job site for all inspections.

You will receive your job card via email once fees have been paid. The approved plans and job card must be on the jobsite at the time of inspection. You will NOT receive a paper copy and are required to print the approved plans and job card for your field set.

Inspections should occur in the listed order; however, they may vary due to unforeseen circumstances. Also, the highlighted addresses should occur in the afternoon, but those that are closer to the morning and afternoon could vary either way

Office Hours: Counter hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Mon-Thurs.                

The Building & Safety Department provides and is responsible for the enforcement of the building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical codes, and certain municipal codes as adopted by the City Council. The Department is also responsible for enforcement of the California State accessibility regulations and energy conservation regulations. The Department reviews and processes permit applications, plan check applications, calculations, and other related documents, and performs inspections of all construction projects. These services are provided directly to the community using a variety of methods including a public counter, web-site, phones, mail, e-mail, and extensive field site visits.
