Flinn Fagg, AICP, Director of Planning ServicesWelcome to the City of Palm Springs department of Planning Services.

Our responsibility is to provide efficient and effective service to those we serve - citizens, property and business owners, investors and visitors.

This Department serves as the staff to the city's Architectural Advisory Committee (AAC), Historic Site Preservation Board (HSPB), and Planning Commission.  These bodies hold regular meetings as follows:

  • AAC - 5:30 pm on the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month
  • HSPB  - 5:30 pm on the 1st Tuesday of each month
  • Planning Commission - 5:30 pm on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month

It is our duty to promptly present well and thoroughly analyzed cases to these appointed decision makers.  The applicants deserve complete assessment of their proposals and the public needs good information so as to be able to provide their input to the city's appointees.

As planners it is our job to implement the plans and codes as adopted by the City Council.  It is also our responsibility to bring forward the best concepts of current planning practice to present to the law makers to create plans and procedures to maintain our neighborhoods and commercial districts.  We need to ensure that this community, which has just celebrated its 75th birthday, is one where properties and places are such that their livability is enhanced over time and that our new development is created as to provide lasting value.

Please consider being a part of the planning process by contacting my office at any time.  Come back to this page occasionally to look for other news and opportunities to participate.
