Restaurants & Bars
May 22, 2020 - Restaurants are permitted to serve food and alcoholic beverages in extended outdoor locations. As of June 12, 2020, bars & wineries are also permitted to serve in extended areas.
A Land Use Permit (LUP) is required for temporary outdoor dining/service areas from the Planning Services Department. If alcoholic beverage service is provided, a Temporary Catering Authorization is also required from the CA Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The Land Use Permit for temporary outdoor dining is available by clicking or tapping here. Applicants must provide a drawing of the outdoor dining area layout (hand-drawn map is acceptable) and authorization from property owner where outdoor dining area is on private property. No fee shall be charged for this temporary LUP. Applications can be submitted via email to Planning@palmspringsca.gov or by mail to the following address:

Signage - All Commercial Businesses
Temporary signage identifying "now open" or other text related to re-opening is permitted with the approval of a sign permit. The application is available by clicking or tapping here. Applicants shall submit the application, a photo or elevation showing the proposed location of the sign, and a sign graphic which depicts the dimensions, colors and appearance of the sign. These materials can be emailed to Planning@palmspringsca.gov or mailed to the above address.
