About The City of Palm Springs Code Compliance Department
The Code Compliance Division is dedicated to maintaining a safe, healthy, and attractive community for all who live, work, and visit our City. We are responsible for enforcing all Municipal Codes and Ordinances, along with applicable state and local laws, and Health and Safety regulations.
Our Code Compliance Officers work to ensure that properties and structures meet municipal, zoning, housing, and building standards. Whenever possible, we focus on achieving voluntary compliance, working side-by-side with property owners and residents to address concerns.
Our team is trained to be approachable, informative, and solution-oriented—helping community members understand the standards in place and guiding them through the process of meeting them. Together, we protect the quality of life and character of our City.
Avoid Code Violations when planning a new project:
Prior to undertaking any improvement projects, owners are encouraged to research whether a Planning or Building permit is required. Although certain types of work may be exempt from a Building permit, a Planning application or approval may still be required to verify that your project is meeting the conditions of our Municipal Code. If a property owner is not sure whether a Planning or Building permit is required for a project, check with the Planning/Building Divisions:
