Recycling in Public Spaces
The City is trying hard to reduce contamination of our recycling streams in public places. It is not the same as residential recycling where you have the facilities to clean out containers. We try to limit recycling in public places to things we know can be easily cleaned and emptied when you are done using them. We will be developing signage to show you exactly what is accepted and what should be trashed. See the basic guidelines below:
Downtown Recycling
- Plastics bottles
- Aluminum cans
- Glass bottles
- Paper (not paper cups)
Park Recycling
- Plastics bottles
- Aluminum cans
- Glass bottles
- Ball cans - plastic and aluminum
Airport Recycling
- Plastics bottles
- Aluminum cans
- Glass bottles
- Clean mixed paper
Always put the following in the trash
- Food containers
- Beverage cups and lids
- Food-soiled paper products
